Bali

Bali

The picturesque island of Bali is an ever-green destination for travelers from around the world despite the political and natural events of recent years. This tourist paradise experiences the greatest influx of travelers in July and August. In our opinion though the best time to visit Bali is during spring when the island is relatively peaceful and weather conditions are great as well. Bali offers perfect natural scenery dominated by high volcanoes (from 1 717m to 3 142m above sea level), mountain lakes and breathtaking terraced fields all over the place. The island with both black and white beach sand is lined by coral reefs and beautiful sea waves attracting young surfers like a magnet. The greatest wealth of the island however is its welcoming population which, unlike the rest of mostly Islamic Indonesia, is 90% Hinduist or Budhist.. Religious ceremonies play an integral role in everyday lives and various religious symbols can be commonly seen in housing culture or during different eves such as the New Year's celebration. The island of the gods, as it is often reffered to, has given its people not only fertile soil but also the opportunity to develop traditional crafts inspired by the surrounding nature. It is this narrow and perfect symbiosis that keeps fascinating foreign visitors. For many, it is often the strongest impetus and inspiration in their effort to achieve life balance or find the meaning of life.

However the highest season is from July to August when the prices of accommodation are at their highest and you will meet the most tourists in Bali. The temperature of sea water is pleasent year round (28 degrees C). Keep in mind however that inland mountain areas like Ubud have naturally lower average temperatures around 23 degrees.

Of course you can. Although Bali is the primary destination for most of our clients it is no problem to combine your stay with a trip to other Indonesian islands. Every package we prepare is tailored to your individual requirements.

Location

Discovering Asia with Bali as the first destination on your itinerary is a perfect choice. The flight from Prague to Bali takes about 20 hours depending on the chosen route but the reward won't let you wait for long as an incredibly colorful world opens up right upon arrival. Gods must have had plenty of work to pack all the beauty of Bali into such small area. From west to east it is barely 153 km whereas it only takes 112 km to reach the soutern tip of the island from its northern border. Located almost in the middle a necklace of islands that make up Indonesia, it is the imaginary border between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. In the north, the archipelago almost touches Malaysia whereas to the south each island is a unique original. The northernmost island of Sumatra is the exclusive territory of orang-utans, elephants and virgin nature that is currently involved in a fierce battle with civilization.

The island of Java located below Sumatra is home to the most sought-after Unesco temples - the Buddhist Borobodur and Hindu Prambatan. As it is the habbit on all Indonesian islands even here the volcanoes dominate the course of history despite their relative subtleness. The most visited volcano is Kawah Ijen with its largest sulfur lake on Earth.

And then we finally reach Bali, the island of fragrances, sweet cuisine, coral reefs, rice fields and absolute peace. Although the balinese volcanoes set the rules of life (the highest volcano Agung is 3031 meters high), the inhabitants believe they live on the island of the Gods who will protect them in exchange for their loayal devotion. In addition to volcanoes and mountainous landscape the center of the island and the northeastern part of Bali are covered with beautifuly terraced rice fields. North and east of the island has black volcanic beaches and crystal sea suitable for diving due to volcanic activity. The beaches with white sand are mainly in the south which is why the Sanur area has witnessed the greatest increase in number of luxurious hotels. Nonetheless always count on shallow sea and long tides. West of the island is popular among surfers and and the young who seek busy social events near the main center of Denpasar, another popular location is Changu further north-west of the capital. Its hipster atmosphere will make you fell absolutely relaxed. Coral reefs are found all around Bali. Should you wish to combine your stay on Bali with other locations we strongly recommend trekking and snorkeling on the smaller islands of Komodo, Rinca and Flores where tourism has not yet developed.

Weather

Bali has a relatively stable tropical weather all year round with temperatures around 30 degrees celsius although the humidity makes it feel higher . August is considered the "coldest" and relatively windy month, whilst November is considered the "warmest" month. Night rains and thunderstorms occur from January to March. The most pleasant time to visit Bali is from March to May when prices of accommodation are relatively affordable, nature is green and the rain has already stopped. However the highest season in terms of visitors is July and August when the prices of accommodation are highest and certain locations in Bali may feel crowded. The temperature of sea water is pleasant year round and fluctuates around 28 degrees. Keep in mind, however, that inland mountain areas have naturally lower average temperatures, tipically around 23 degrees celsius.
