United Arab Emirates

United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates are all about earthly indulgence, a desire to overcome the impossible and showcase human determination. It is a land of many unique achievements funded by revenues from the generous Mother Earth. The local emirs have been smart enough to invest the oil revenues into tourism and trade that secure the country's place in the post-oil era. Dubai is the most popular of the seven Emirates, mainly thanks to media coverage and its image as the Mecca of luxury lifestyle, boutique hotels and lively beaches. Dubai is unique in many ways. Sheikh Mohammed the ruler of Dubai is a witted and inspirtional man who likes to break world records. Hence he surpvised the construction of world's tallest tower the Burj Khalifa, or a magical fountain with an adjacent giagantic shopping mall, amazing aquariums, ski slopes in the middle of desert, the artificial Palm Island, golf courses and much more. For some time the traditional old Dubai remained in the shadow of modernisation efforts however it has now become popular again as people seek the traditional face of local culture. To discover it we recommend you to wander through the old souk by the bay and to talk to the locals about how fishing and pearl diving used to be the only source of income back in the days.

If there is one thing Dubai is missing it's probably the greenery, which is not the case in the neighbouring capital of Abu Dhabi. The former President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Zayed loved greenery and it is evident at the very first moment you enter Abu Dhabi the largest of the severn emirates. The emirate is a great place to go if you want to avoid the hustle of Dubai yet don't want to give up on the luxury it offers. There are also some unique things to do such as a tour to the Yas Water World, Ferrari World - the largest theme park in the world, the Sheikh Zayed Mosque - a breathtaking mosque designed by a woman, or a beautiful waterfront with many parks where you can enjoy long walks overlooking palaces and spectacularly lit skyscrapers. The parks are great place to meet and dine with the locals.  In addition Abu Dhabi offers pristine and quiet beaches far from any civilization and its sea has a special tone of blue resembling the Seychelles.

Last but definitely not the least UAE give you the opportunity to feel the hot wind blowing from the high sand dunes of Rub Al Khali, to caress falcons, get to know the lives of date collectors or enthusiastic ecologists who are restoring vast areas of mangroves along the coast. You can also enjoy various art galleries, shop at huge shopping malls or in traditionals souk.

In front of the airport there are bus stops where city buses generally run from 5.00 AM till midnight. Airport buses run around 80 hotels in the city center but a more common means of transport is taxi service. All the 7,000 taxis are strictly supervised by the local authority and in Dubai taximeters are a mandatory. Taxi can be ordered at 0097142080808. In Dubai there are also pink taxis driven by women for women, which can be easily identified by color.
The Dubai Metro opened in September 2009 having two lines. One connecting Dubai (mostly above ground) and copying the coast, while the other crosses the old town (mostly underground). All-day tourist tickets can be purchased directly at metro stations. The metro is fully autonomous and ready for people with handicap including separate compartments for women with children. There is also a Gold section and VIP section. Metro runs every day from 6.00 AM to 11 PM with the exception of Friday whe the schedule is from 2 PM until midnight. Since 2010 the so-called water taxi has also joined the transport system, connecting 17 locations, such as the old souk in Dejra with Bur Dubai, golf clubs around the Creek and Mamzar, the Jumeirah and Jebel Ali beach lagoon and even Dubai with the Emirate of Ajman.
Transportation between the individual Emirates is not so sophisticated and the best mean is to take a taxi or some of the local coaches, while for the more distant places it is necessary to rent a car or rely on sporadic minibus connections. In recent years bus lines have been opened between the emirates and central stations have been built in each of them.

Visa to UAE

If you are a foreign national let us know what passport you hold and we will inform you whether or not you are obliged to apply for visa to the United Arab Emirates.

Since March 2014 the Czechs and Slovaks no longer need to apply for visa to enter the UAE. The entry permit is granted directly upon arrival. The only two things to check are:

1. a passport which must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into the country;
2. a passport not containing any record of entry into Israel

Special conditions apply to children who do not travel with their own parents. In any case, it is necessary to check before traveling whether the visa conditions have not changed.

Frequently asked questions

Emirates or Oman are not last minute destinations but quite the contrary - the sooner you book your vacation the better. You  will be able to choose from a wider variety of luxury hotels and benefit from various price promotions. You can also buy flight tickets cheaper when booking early. Be aware that the demand for New Year, Easter and autumn holidays is extreme and you can avoid the high price only when you book at the right time.

Yes you can combine any country you want and however you want. A favorite combination of our clients is a relaxed stay in Maldives or Mauritius followed up with entertainment, shopping and adventures in the UAE. But generally speaking there are no limits and we can fulfill any wish.

There are 7 Emirates and the most frequent target of our clients are Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ajman. Dubai offers the wides gamut of experiences, shopping, iconic architecture and beaches with five star hotels. Abu Dhabi is our personal favorite because it is much quieter, greener and breathes the cultural life of the locals whilst not lacking the top luxury hotels and turquoise sea. If you visit Ajman, you will get better price / performance ratio at the expense of worse accessibility for city life or attractions compared to Dubai.

Weather in Gulf countries including the UAE is the hottest around June till the end of September when high temperatures are also accompanied by high humidity. Hence it is the lowest and the cheapest season of the year. Ideal weather occurs from October to early December and then from March to early June. In winter, temperatures are usually around 25 degrees and the sea starts to cool down. Ocassionaly rain showers, cold winds and early sandstorms may occur. In Hajjar mountains that stretch through the UAE and Oman you may even experience snow so if you decide to visit the UAE in winter the best thing is to chill by the pool in the garden where you can sunbathe and enjoy pleasant walks around the city.

Although the range of hotels in Dubai is extremely varied and certainly offers plenty to choose from, on Dubai's beaches there are only 5-star properties. There is de facto the only one four-star hotel and based on our personel experience we have excluded it from our portfolia. If you are looking for a more affordable accommodation, we recommend that you look at the nearby Marina or check some of the city hotels. We personally visit all of the hotels we sell so we will help you make the right choice and make the best of your vacation.

Weather

Pleasantly sunny days and warm evenings in the UAE are from mid-October to mid-May, whilst in January and February it may be a bit cold for some people. Rains may occur from December to February. Sandstorms or thunderstorms may occur in during spring although they are rare. From mid-June to September it is very hot and at the same time very humid, so all buildings and cars are heavily air-conditioned and therefore most "natives" like to go to Europe and other parts of the world in summer. However is also the season of festivities thanks to Ramadan and prices of hotels and services are at their lowest.

The following table shows the average monthly temperatures in the United Arab Emirates:

January February March April May June July August September October November December
Average maximum 24 25 28 32 37 39 40 41 39 35 31 26
Average minimum 14 15 17 20 24 26 29 30 27 23 19 16

Location

The United Arab Emirates are located on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula and in the immediate vicinity of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Iran. The country is further lined by the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman through which it gains access to the Indian Ocean. The Emirates are a country of many records and breathtaking evidence of human skill and ingenuity. The many megalomaniac projects designed by Sheikh Mohammed speak for themselves. For instance he has managed to increas the land area of his country by tens of kilometers by building artificial islands. The total area of the country is now 83 600 km2 and the number is still growing. If you choose to travel to UAE your flight will take about 6 hours with direct connection from Prague. Thanks to this convenient route with several take-offs a day Dubai and the whole UAE is becoming an increasingly popular destination among Czech travelers.
