The destination was visited by Dr. Hassan El Hassan

We were the first and so far the only travelers who dared to guide Czech tourists through the beauties of northern Sudan. We have a very good relationship with local partners so you can feel safe watching the countless pyramids of the black pharaohs.

Reviews

I have traveled a lot with Palmyra Tour and I would define their services as flawless. Arrangements prior the trip, flight connections, accommodation selection, itinerary quality, guide's knowledge and attitude.. It's all perfect! Wherever I have traveled everything worked precisely and everyone received amazing attention and care no matter what time of the day it was. And the experiences I've had? Ah, they were priceless and soul enriching! Palmyra Tour has my great respect and gratitude for everything they have done for me and I am looking forward to my next journey with them.

I am glad to say I can travel with Palmyra Tour. I've been traveling with them for well over 14 years to exotic countries like Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Pakistan etc. I've never felt insecure and didn't have to worry about anything. Their ability to organise trips with great precision is highly appreciated and they always take the best precautions to ensure our safety on the road no matter where we travel. Level of provided services is outstanding even in the most exotic and remote areas. Despite my initial doubts many years ago they have always been able to arrange luxurious, hygienic and reliable places to stay. What's unique to Palmyra is the fact that their exploration tours are always acompanied by the company owner Mr. Hassan himself who happens to come from the Orient and so he knows the language, customs, traditions and realities of every country we travel to. There were a few complications along the road over the last years but he was always able to overcome them ellegantly and to satisfaction of all travelers in the group. I definitely recommend your services to demanding travelers!

Itinerary

1st day: Departure from Prague
2nd day: Arrival in Khartoum, check-in and transfer to hotel of 3 *, 4 * or 5 * of your choice, overnight stay, breakfast, short trip around Khartoum. The journey begins with a visit to the Archaeological Museum, which includes, among other things, two beautiful temples rescued by UNESC from Lake Nasser. Crossing the confluence of the White and Blue Nile near the Presidential Palace, stopping at the tomb of Mahdi in the former Sudanese capital of Omdurman and visiting the Khalifa House, where a small Mahdist museum is located, moving to the colorful souk in Omdurman. In the meantime it will be possible to see the unique traditional dervish dance ceremony. Return to hotel, overnight.
3rd day: After breakfast at the hotel you will leave for the Western Desert. On your way there you will enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the desert landscape as far as the Muqaddam Valley with its first acacia trees. There will be a refreshment stop in a simple "tea house". Later in the afternoon you will be arriving in the small town of Karima. On one of the banks of the Nile at the foot of the Jabal Barkal there is an accommodation in the traditional Nubian style dwelling where you may watch the sunset over the pyramid field. Dinner and overnight.
4th day: Breakfast, transfer to the archaeological site Jabal Barkal which is typical for its red sandstone. In the ancient times the top of the mountain was said to have been covered in gold. This "Nubian Olympus" has been a sacred center for more than a thousand years and has witnessed, among other things, the most famous era of Nubian reign represented by the famous 25th dynasty. It ruled all of Egypt and re-established the tradition of building pyramids. Here you will enjoy a tour of the area under the foot of the mountain, dominated by the huge temple of Amon. It is 120 meters tall and it was built by Thutmosis III. and later modified by the local Pharaoh Taharqa. Amon was a symbol of fertility and was depicted as a ram in Nubia; At the foot of the mountain was once the capital of Nubia called Napata (800-400 BC), where the royal necropolis is now to be seen, consisting of 180 pyramids in three locations: north of the mountain, in El Kurru and in the Nuri on the other of the Nile. After lunch, a tour of El Kurra, including the tomb of King Tantamani and his mother Qalhat, which are decorated with frescoes and hieroglyphs, return to Karima through a desert rich in fossil trunks, dinner, overnight.
5th day: Breakfast, a tour of the Nuri pyramids, which are the most important, because here we find the largest pyramid of Pharaoh Taharqa. It reaches a height of 40-50 meters. Then there are some smaller pyramids reaching heights of about 20-40m and belonged to pharaoh's successors - 21 kings and 52 queens and princesses. After crossing the Nile, you will find yourself right in the middle of the desert Baja which lies between the 4th-6th cataract and is characterized by black basalt pointed cones of volcanic origin. On the way through the big dry wadi it is possible to meet nomads from the Bisharin tribe who live in shacks of branches near rare water sources. We'll then have a picnic in the desert followed by another wading of the Nile on a pontoon that transports camels and other animals. At the end of the trip you may see a landscape dotted with acacia trees, diversified by the presence of camels and stunning views of the first 40 pyramids of the royal necropolis of Meroe. At the end of the day we will have dinner and overnight stay in the tent base in Meroe with all the facilities including private toilet and bathroom for each tent.
6th day: Breakfast on the terrace with stunning views of the pyramids and subsequent move to the royal necropolis where the hills are covered with yellow sand dunes. Some pyramids rise into the clouds with their sharp sharp curves, each pyramid having its own burial temple where walls are decorated with bas-reliefs depicting scenes from the life of the king and sacrifices to the gods. Crossing the Musawwarat Valley where the remains of a great temple from 1st century BC lie. They are surrounded by walls with scenes of elephants, and since there was no permanent settlement in the place several theories arose as to why the Merovian period attached such importance to the site. A tour of the Apedemaka Temple will then take place. The program continues with a visit to the Naqa site which used to be one of the two main centers in the Merovian period and is now the subject of research among Czech archaeologists. Tour of the Temple of Apedemak from the 1st century BC, which replaced the god Amon in the Kushite period - the building is decorated with a bas-relief of a god with a lion's head, a pharaoh, noble men and ritual scenes. Not far from the temple is a small pavilion decorated with columns and arches that combine Egyptian, Greek and Roman influences. The entrance to the next temple is decorated with a number of rams that symbolize the dedication of the temple to Amon. Picnic lunch, return to Khartoum, accommodation for a few hours before departure.
7th day: transfer to airport after midnight and subsequent departure for Prague

The program can be extended individually by a three-day trip to the area of Kerma, during this section of the tour you will be able to see the majestic Defuffa, Soleb temple, museums and archaeological site with Egyptian and Christian monuments on the island of Sai. Additionally you will see the 2800 years old statue of King Taharqa in one of the Nubian villages where will also have the opportunity to spend some time with the locals.
